Bisha K. Ali is a screenwriter and stand-up comedian known for her personal, political comedy. Recently selected for BAFTA's 2018 Elevate programme, she is currently based LA, writing on MGM and Universal’s adaptation of Four Weddings And A Funeral for hulu.
Her pilot script Book Club was produced for a table read by Sky as part of their diversity initiative, which led to Tiger Aspect optioning the script along with another of Bisha’s comedy projects. Bisha has been in the writers' room for Sex Education, a new comedy drama for Netflix (produced by Eleven Film) which is currently in production. At present, she has projects in development with Eleven Film, Tiger Aspect, and Rockerdale Studios.
Bisha has been in the writers’ room for Deborah Frances-White’s Channel 4 topical entertainment pilot Next Week’s News (Merman), True Believers, a new comedy drama series for CBBC, and The News Quiz for BBC Radio 4.
As a performer, Bisha is frequently heard on the Guilty Feminist podcast and she also co-hosts the BBC Radio 4 podcast GrownUpLand. In 2012 she took part in the internationally acclaimed Royal Court Theatre’s Young Writers’ Programme.
